Palm Trees for the Holidays

Day 18 and 19:  Art Every Day Month

Here’s something I’ve wanted to do for years.

When we moved out here from Missouri over a decade ago, it was this time of year, right before Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas shopping season.  When I went to get Christmas cards to send home to family and friends back in the Midwest, I realized that the greeting card industry was under the impression that everyone celebrates Christmas up North!  Nothing on the shelves looked like South Carolina in December.

So for 11 years, it’s been my aim to design a card that looks like something you might see in the South.  This picture is going on our cards this year.  We do, occasionally have snow, not every year, and it doesn’t stick around long, but this is kind of what it looks like when it does.
